Kunnappallil, Muttathukunnel, Chengalathuparambil and Purayidam families
History of the inception of the Kunnappallil, Muttathukunnel, Chengalathuparambil and Purayidam families, from the Kozhikothickal family of Varkey
Kozhikothickal Varkey's son Thomman moved to Edamattom, stayed nearby the place facing the Pankapattu Temple, and adopted the family name 'Kunnappallil'. Kunnappallil Thomman was born in 1795. Thomman's eldest son Varkey made his house to the north of this and stayed there, continuing the Kunnappallil family name. Second son died young. Third and Fourth sons, Thomman and Kochu Ipe moved to Edamattom Muttathukunnu region and hence the Muttathukunnel family name. Fifth son Mathai married Kanjirathunkal Thresia and since her family did not have any male descendants, continued the Kanjirathunkal family heritage, but with a new family name, Chengalathuparambil. Sixth son Michael moved to the upper section of 'Purayidam Parambu', stayed there, and hence the family name Purayidam. Youngest son Itty Ipe stayed in the ancestral home and continued the Kunnappallil family name.
