1 | 1878 | - 1878—1958: Mahakavi Vallathol Narayana Menon. His outstanding works are Badhira Vilapam, Bandhanasthanaya Anirudhan, Oru Katha, Sishyanum Makanum, Magdalana Mariyam, Kochu Sita, Achanum Makalum, Sahitya Manjari, etc. He also translated Valmiki Ramayana and Rig Veda into Malayalam. Vallathol's efforts resulted in the revival of the art of Kathakali.

2 | 1954 | - 1954: 'Neelakkuyil', often considered as the first authentic Malayali movie, was released. It captured national interest by winning the President's silver medal. It was scripted by the renown Malayalam novelist Uroob and directed by P. Bhaskaran and Ramu Kariat.

5 | 1962 | - 3 Jul 1962: Since the beginning of the Syro-Malabar church, its liturgy was in Syriac and went through Latinization like many other churches in the 16th century. As a movement for better understanding of the liturgical rites, a restored Eucharistic liturgy, drawing on the original East Syrian sources, was approved by Pope Pius XII in 1957 and for the first time on the feast of St. Thomas on July 3, 1962, the vernacular, Malayalam, was introduced for the celebration of the Syro-Malabar rite Mass.
